This new tablet is a PS5 killer, handheld, and gaming laptop all in one

Meet the OneXPlayer Super X, a new gaming laptop and tablet hybrid powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395, a chip with a GPU more powerful than the one in the Sony PS5. This monstrously capable new gaming handheld also includes a 2.8K AMOLED display and detachable keyboard, for true versatility as well as gaming power.

This OneXPlayer device is a direct competitor to the Asus ROG Flow Z13, another laptop-tablet-handheld hybrid, which we recently tested in our Asus ROG Flow Z13 2025 review. That tablet found itself a spot on our best handheld guide as the best gaming tablet, but OneXPlayer is coming out swinging for that title with the Super X. 

It's the AMD chip that makes this OneXPlayer tablet so interesting. The AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 is a single chip that houses a CPU and GPU, which is a common enough combination, but the GPU in this chip is far more powerful than any we've seen before. 

Codenamed AMD Strix Halo, this APU (a CPU and GPU combo) includes an RDNA 3.5 GPU that, on paper, is more powerful than the RDNA 2 one in the PlayStation 5, as it features 40 compute units versus the PS5's 36, as well as a newer architecture. It's not a direct comparison, but on these raw numbers, it should comfortably outperform Sony's console.

Also included in the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 are 16 Zen 5 CPU cores that can deliver plenty of general processing power to accompany all that graphics number crunching grunt.

We've already seen Strix Halo in action in our Z13 Flow review, and it is very impressive, with solid 1080p gaming performance. Meanwhile, we're starting to see it announced in more devices, such as the GPD Win 5, but it remains a relatively rare and premium option.

Elsewhere, the Super X features a 14-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a 2,880 x 1,800 resolution, with support for HDR and a variable refresh rate. It supports the AI Max+ 395's full 120W TDP, with a vapor chamber cooling system to keep the thermals under wraps.

Simply bonkers levels of RAM are also included, with OneXPlayer offering variants with 64GB and 128GB of RAM. You can also allocate 96GB as your GPU's VRAM. 

The Super X's I/O includes two USB Type-C and one Type-A ports, along with a single HDMI. For storage, the OneXPlayer Super X has an internal M.2 2280 SSD slot, along with what it describes as a "mini SSD PCIe 4.0 slot" for quick upgrades. It's also due to ship with a 83.5Wh battery, although there are no stats to suggest how long it can last. The Super X also has a built-in kickstand to stand it up, as well as the removable keyboard that magnetically connects at the bottom.

OneXPlayer hasn't confirmed the pricing structure or launch date for the Super X just yet, but the Asus ROG Flow Z13 2025, which features a similar design and the same AMD APU, is priced at $2,099.99. If OneXPlayer goes down a similar route here, this will be a premium product. We'll be hoping that it's a little more affordable when it launches, but either way, we'll be keen to put it to the test when it does.
