If you're wondering what a gaming handheld powered by an Nvidia GPU might look and play like, one modder has the answer. This enormous handheld has a 12.5-inch 4K display and RTX 4090 laptop GPU, and can even run on its built-in battery, just not while gaming.

While this beast could easily claim a spot on our best handheld guide based on the in-game performance we've seen so far, it's not exactly suitable as a portable gaming device, at least in its current form. Cramming an Nvidia GPU, even a laptop one, into a handheld was always going to require some compromise, be it on power, cooling, or size, and it appears that all three have been accounted for in this design.

The monster handheld can be seen in action in a video posted to Bilibili, where we see the console in action and get a look at the specs. It has an Intel Core i9 14900HX, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090, 64GB of RAM, a 2TB NVMe SSD, a 12.5-inch 4K touch screen, and a 50Wh battery.

Specs of the giant RTX 4090 handheld.

Three games are shown running on the handheld at 4K: Horizon Forbidden West, Cyberpunk 2077, and God of War. Performance looks great, although no exact frame rate or performance figures are shown during the video.

What we have here is essentially a gaming laptop converted into a handheld, which is mightily impressive, but the practicality will need some work. Especially when it comes to playing games on the go.

The top comment on the post pokes fun at the battery capabilities, suggesting the handheld would automatically shut down after 10 seconds without power, but the original poster dismisses these claims, stating, "After it is disconnected from the power supply, it is powered by battery, which is a maximum of 50 watts. It can last for half an hour, but you definitely can't play games."

So, while the performance of this handheld has its limitations, there's no denying how impressive this gaming handheld looks. It's huge, but the controls look well integrated into the chassis, and it looks like it would be more usable than, for instance, the Asus ROG Z13 Flow gaming tablet.
