I feel for anyone trying to market a game in 2025, especially on the independent scene. You have to stand out from the thousands of games that release every single day in order to make an impression and get that initial momentum going. Luckily, one thing that Artis Impact has going for it is its first impression. The striking art direction and beautifully-rendered pixel aesthetic instantly make you want to learn more, and the JRPG lurking beneath this slick exterior seems robust from the initial Steam reviews, which are currently Very Positive.

Just scrolling through the images on Artis Impact's Steam page reveals a diverse visual presentation. Exploring the game's post-apocalyptic world seems to be shown through a range of perspectives, from top-down, to isometric, to classic side-scrolling. Cutscenes utilize manga-esque panels to show dialogue. Then the turn-based combat ranges between a side-on view and an over-the-shoulder perspective. Aside from the camera angles, the art itself switches between quaint pixel art and hand-drawn manga.

Taking plenty of inspiration from some of the best JRPG games of days gone by, Artis Impact has plenty going on beneath the surface once you look past the impressive art.

The turn-based combat look simple and elegant, the story is described as "rich" as it tries to balance dark narratives with light-hearted daily activities. Speaking of which, there's home decorating mechanics and a daily life simulation. From taking on part-time jobs to relaxing by cooking up a hearty meal, Artis Impact is really trying to offer players a range of gameplay to suit everyone's tastes.

an autumnal forest in artis impact.

The debut game from developer Mas, Artis Impact seems like a strong opener. If the streamlined JRPG experience it describes comes anywhere close to the stunning art direction showcased in trailers and screenshots, you're in for a treat.

Artis Impact is available on Steam now for $17.09 / £13.49. You can download it here.
