Great news, Diablo 4 rival Last Epoch finally is adding loot filter sounds

There's nothing like beating a boss in Diablo 4 and watching armor, weapons, and gold spurt out from its lifeless corpse like shiny, expensive viscera. There's a series of dull clunks as all of the lower tier loot hits the ground, then there's that dopamine-inducing swoosh that signifies a legendary drop - breath hitches, excitement builds, and already endless build possibilities expand even further. But ARPGs, by nature, throw a lot of gear at you, and sifting through it isn't exactly much fun - that's where loot filters come in clutch. But what if your loot filter also made noises? Good news Last Epoch players, Eleventh Hour Games has confirmed that loot filter sounds are coming. This is not a drill.

Amid a flurry of games like Diablo, Last Epoch is the one that's held my attention. While its player count has certainly tapered off since its explosive Steam release back in 2024, it continues to keep things fresh with new seasonal content and various class reworks.

Coming into Season 3, entitled Beneath Ancient Skies, the Acolyte's Lich and Necromancer subclasses are both getting some much-needed TLC, as the power-hungry spell slinger has struggled to keep up with her fellow adventurers. There's the brand new primordial uniques, too, one of which summons a dinosaur companion, so count me in.

But, while all of that is pretty cool, the thing that's piqued my interest is the addition of loot filter sounds. Necromancer? Hardly know her. New, powerful relics? That's nice, I guess. No, I want that satisfying clunk, that sweeping swoosh, that, to borrow Eleventh Hour's phrasing, "ASMR."

In a new video posted on Monday, August 4, the devs showcased the myriad new sounds that'll be added to the Last Epoch loot filter, writing "Mondays suck, so here's a little loot filter ASMR to start your week." It goes on to confirm that the system will debut alongside Season 3, so we won't even have to wait that long for some satisfying swooshes and 'fwoomphs' (I don't know if that's a sound, but it is now - think lightsaber mixed with a mace).

In slightly sadder news, it has also confirmed that these are preset sounds, so you won't be able to add your own weird noises into the game. Mike 'Ekimarcher' states that it's "fixed sounds only," responding to a comment simply saying "cowards!" with "How dare you si….oh wait, yeah, that's fair. Big time." So you never know, maybe we'll see customizable loot filter sounds in the future - no one wants to be a coward, after all, right Eleventh Hour?
