Huge Skyrim mod that remakes Oblivion shows off unique weapons, new locations

My first entry into Elder Scrolls was Skyrim, and to this day it's still one of my all-time favorite games. I've spent the last however many years trying to recapture the feeling I got when I first booted it up, and it's one of the reasons why I was so excited about Oblivion Remastered. And while I've enjoyed exploring this new side to a world I've loved for years, seeing random mages get into fire fights with goats, and listening to Patrick Stewart's dulcet tones, I've got to admit that I'm even more excited about diving into Cyrodiil with Skyblivion. Which is great news, as the game is nearing its 2025 launch date.

So why be excited about Skyblivion when one of the best RPGs has already been remastered and released this year? Well, as the team explains it, Skyblivion is a Skyrim mod that remakes Oblivion in its predecessor's engine, re-imagining it from the ground up while also introducing a wealth of content, including new cities, dungeons, and gameplay enhancements.

In the first update since the Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered was released, the team outlines its plans as it enters the final stretch before launch, highlighting Sutch, one of the cities cut from Oblivion prior to its release, and the redesigned Anvil.

And that's not all, the new dev diary also showcases changes and designs for the smouldering ruins of Kvatch, The Deadlands - complete with new and terrifying enemies, and the Realms of Oblivion. We see various unique weapons with new custom attacks, including Apotheosis, Burz's Glass Mace, and Dagger of Discipline, alongside tailored sets of armor, clothing, and jewellery.

But all of this is just the tip of the iceberg, with the next dev diary promising to showcase the Imperial City itself.

There's no confirmed release date for Skyblivion, other than its expected to release sometime this year. Those wanting to help out the team finalise the mod as it heads into final stages can apply here.
