I love a gaming PC build with a story and some serious style. You don't need a long essay to figure out what this particular build is all about, because it immediately sparks the imagination. It looks futuristic, mixing a post-apocalyptic style with a cold, brutalist, and industrial edge. It has some serious gaming potential, too, thanks to powerful AMD and Nvidia components.

I've never been adventurous enough to design a PC build with these kinds of eye-catching aesthetics, but it's giving me some serious PC envy nevertheless. This curious design fits inside an otherwise fairly standard Corsair 5000D ATX PC case. The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU inside this rig makes it anything but standard for gamers, however, with the power to compete with the pre-built models in our best gaming PC guide all day long.

This interesting design caught my eye in this builds.gg post by Marco Lahm. Lahm is light on details, simply labeling the build as their "new build for 2k25." It's quite the striking entry, with the case carefully painted to look like distressed and rusty metal, like something out of a post-nuclear wasteland.

Strip away those aesthetics, however, and it's a surprisingly clean build under the hood. The cable management is well hidden, with only the soft black piping of the water cooling setup taking up most of the internal volume. RGB lighting has been cleverly deployed, too, with the RAM and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card both lit up in the same yellow tone, along with an additional RGB lighting strip at the top.

The modifications made to this case are a tribute to Lahm's own meticulous skills as a designer. I particularly like the fan exhaust at the back of the case - the design is simple, but once again, the careful execution, including the paint work, makes it pop out.

The rear is also incredible, featuring a submarine-style exit hatch that must have taken days to put together. All in all, this is a show-stopper of a build. While I don't have the paint skills to quite live up to it, Lahm's efforts here give me some serious ideas about how bold my next gaming PC should be.

Luckily, you don't need to be handy with a paint brush to have a gorgeous-looking gaming PC on your desk, and our how to build a gaming PC guide will walk you through the whole process. The CPU you choose can change everything about your build, but our best gaming CPU guide has plenty of options for gamers to suit any budget.
