I'm genuinely impressed by this Bluetooth speaker deal available at Amazon right now. You can pick up the Anker Soundcore Motion X500, a powerful and portable 40W Bluetooth speaker, for the very budget-friendly price of $79.99. That's a full 53% lower than its original MSRP and a saving $90.
Soundcore is the brand that Anker uses for its audio products that includes a range of speakers and headphones. We've previously tested several of its Bluetooth speakers, with our Anker Soundcore Motion X500 review leaving us very impressed by this mid-size model. It's a great multipurpose speaker with a classic radio-style setup with powerful sound output in an easily portable case. We've recommended it on our best Bluetooth speaker guide ever since.
The Anker Soundcore Motion X500 isn't an ultra portable speaker intended for chucking in a backpack, as with the JBL Flip 7, Anker Soundcore Motion 300, or Minirig 4. Instead, it's more of a round-the-house speaker that's ideal for use in the kitchen, out in the yard when having a BBQ, or taking poolside.
It has a metal bar on the top making it easy to carry around, and this is actually a major plus point compared to some larger Bluetooth speakers that look smart but are basically impossible to pickup one handed. For those poolside moments, this speaker is IPX7 waterproof rated too. That means the speaker will survive dips in one meter (3.3ft) of water for up to thirty minutes.
As for sound quality, the X500 packs a real punch. Its 40W output power is more than double that of smaller Bluetooth speakers and it can handle a wide frequency range of 50Hz to 40kHz. What that means is it can get loud and pack a bass kick while still producing plenty of midrange and treble detail.
It delivers this audio via an up-firing 43mm driver and two forward-firing 58mm full-range drivers on each side, allowing it to offer a spatial sound that can really fill a room. This setup also means you get a true stereo effect, whereas many Bluetooth speakers only offer mono sound. The stereo image isn't particularly wide (as this is only 190mm wide speaker), but it's technically there - pop this speaker behind your laptop and you'll have amazing stereo sound to enhance your movie watching.
Battery life is rated at up to 12 hours on 50% volume, and this held up in our testing. Crank it up higher and it won't last as long but 50% volume is very loud. The only slight downside here is that a full charge takes five hours.
When we reviewed this speaker shortly after it launched, it was priced at $170, and even at that price it was good value. We've seen it discounted since then but right now on Amazon it's at its lowest price ever. It's absolutely incredibly value with this current discount.
