Everybody has their own favourite Monster Hunter game. A lot of people would say World. A few might say Rise. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is a classic. There's even someone out there who's favourite is Wilds. Anyone? No? Alas. However, there's one spinoff series that's rarely included in these conversations. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection was announced today, and promises Pokemon-esque gameplay like its predecessors. With turn-based combat, story-led RPG mechanics, and - of course - monsters to hunt, it's high time you gave the Monster Hunter Stories series a chance.
The trailer doesn't offer much in the way of gameplay, but it shows an evocative setting where you play as the heir to the Azurian kingdom, and the last Rathalos rider therein. But if we learned anything from the previous two spinoff games, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection will offer turn-based combat and a strong narrative to pull us through.
The trailer starts, as most do these days, with a Tears of the Kingdom-esque plummet towards the ground, before you whistle your Rathalos to swoop beneath you and scoop you into its saddle. If Twisted Reflection takes anything else from one of the best RPG games of all time, then we're in for a treat.
The iconic wyvern looks to serve as your mount in the game, allowing you to travel the kingdom of Azuria and further afield. In fact, your driving force seems to send you across the Meridian, whatever that means.
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is coming to PC in 2026.
If you can't wait until the 2026 release date, why not try some of the best games like Monster Hunter in the meantime? Alternatively, imagine you're in the saddle of a Rathalos while you explore one of the best open world games.
