Time is ticking down until the much-anticipated launch of Borderlands 4. The game looks like it's setting itself up to be a fun, frenetic romp across the planet of Kairos, brimming with new mechanics, tools, and weapons, as well as four new vault hunters. I, for one, can't wait to find out more about these fresh faces - thankfully, Gearbox has released more info about the most agile of the lot. That's right, Rafa just got a new character trailer.
I've always had a bit of a love-hate relationship with Gearbox's seminal shooter series, but Borderlands 4 is certainly shaping up to be my most anticipated co-op game of the year. The Borderlands 4 release date is still a while away, but I can't help but be excited about every bit of new info - and the latest certainly hasn't disappointed.
In this bloody new character short, we learn a little more about the backstory of ex-Tediore soldier, Rafa. The five-minute clip shows how Rafa cut ties with the Tediore corporation, after the Liveframe Project was cruelly twisted into the Deadframe Project.
We see how Rafa, enlisted in the Tediore military, has been altered for an exo-suit that allows him to survive outside of the microgravity he was born and raised in. Except, Tediore has plans beyond Rafa's survival - and into his death. As it turns out the handy exo-suit will ensure Rafa continues to operate even after he dies. Yeesh, no wonder he went AWOL.
I mentioned previously that Rafa's gameplay reveal placed him at the top of my must-play list - a rogue build and quick quips? Sign me up. But there will be plenty to experiment and get to grips with when Borderlands 4 launches this September. I can't wait to get stuck in, especially after Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford told how Borderlands 4 will offer even more skills per character than Borderlands 2 and 3 put together. And that's not even considering the new prelaunch build planner.
The new update from Gearbox comes after it was revealed that this one pre-order bonus for the upcoming PC game will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store.
Borderlands 4 will launch on PC on Friday, September 12. Here's a handy link to its Steam page.
