A new Elden Ring Nightreign update has just rolled out, introducing the much-requested two-player expeditions. Previously hit with a delay due to tsunami warnings, Elden Ring Nightreign patch 1.02 is now live on all platforms, and Fromsoftware has delivered quite a few welcome quality-of-life upgrades and UI improvements along with the ability to finally run in a duo queue.
While its appeal is fairly distinct from its parent game, Elden Ring Nightreign is still one of the best RPGs of 2025, and manages to land among our best multiplayer games as well. The increased focus on co-op with your friends means that injecting a random third player into the mix can be more of a distraction than a benefit, and now you'll be able to dodge that awkwardness with the introduction of two-player expeditions. Fromsoftware says the game balance will be adjusted according to the number of participants, so don't worry that you'll be at a disadvantage.
That's just the start of what patch 1.02 has to offer, however. The relic system has been given a welcome makeover with new filtering options that allow you to more precisely pick out specific effects or combinations thereof. Finding the best Elden Ring Nightreign relics among your inventory should be a lot easier, then, and you can also now register up to 100 of them. To further help, there's now the ability to sell or favorite any relics you own in the rewards and purchasing menus, too.
Fromsoftware has also made a handful of other welcome changes, including some UI improvements. When looking through character presets, it will now prioritize those for your currently-selected Elden Ring Nightreign class. There are new tabs in the Small Jar Bazaar and Collector Signboard menus to help you navigate them more cleanly, and you can open detailed descriptions of weapons in the shop menu of Limveld merchants.
Finally, you'll now be able to skip part of the cutscene after defeating the current Night Aspect, and can view passives and special effects among the other information when you get back to the results screen. Alongside that comes quite a few other bug fixes; the Ironeye's mark has been made more visible, the targeting effect for Revenant's summoned spirits should now display correctly, and players should no longer find themselves erroneously stuck in the near-death mode when downed by a grab attack.
