Looking to beat a Scorpion in Grounded 2? Being one of the first of the game's biggest insects you'll do battle with, learning how the Northern Scorpion, its subspecies, and offspring attack can help you deal damage without dwelling on prep work. They rarely travel alone, after all.
If you're looking to tussle with a Northern Scorpion in Grounded 2, you're either trying to get into a new Ranger Outpost location or you're walking the long and winding road to Grade II Omni-Tool upgrades. For the latter, you might also want to know where to find Blueberries and how to beat Ladybugs.
You don't need to rely on Red Soldier Ants to take on a Grounded 2 Scorpion—though it helps you target the scorpion's rear weak point. You'll want some armor and a way to disinfect or deal with the damage of its venom, of course, but the real key is timing. So long as you're comfortable blocking, you'll have everything needed to beat a Scorpion.

Scorpions attack in a simple four-strike pattern: fast left and right claw, followed up by a slightly slower fang attack, and finally a slow strike from its tail. Be mindful that they can also fake you out with that first swing, so be prepared to block each blow and launch your counterattack.
Heavy blunt weapons can daze the creature, but going one-handed with a shield and relying on perfect blocks with each strike has the same effect. This leaves you with more stamina to deal heavy damage with charged attacks while it's out cold.
The Northern Scorpion can raise its claws to block incoming attacks, too. A charged strike can often smash through, but you can also charge a strike to land as soon as it lets its guard down. Just be ready to block immediately after. Likewise, its burrow is also followed up with a fast tail strike, so be sure to block or dodge when it emerges.
It can be a long and grueling battle with early-game gear, but you can beat a Grounded 2 scorpion with this simple strategy in low-grade gear. Just stick to the plan and don't get ahead of yourself. Focus on the blocks, deal damage while it's dazed, then get ready to block again. For your efforts, you'll receive items like Northern Scorpion Stingers and claws for some powerful new weapons.
Where can I find Northern Scorpions in Grounded 2?
The terrifying Northern Scorpion can be found in the northern area of the Park. They burrow just like Grubs, which can lead to some haunting scenarios if you dig up the wrong creature. Thankfully, a burrowed Scorpion going about its business does protrude slightly, making it possible to spot it ahead of time.
Furthermore, Scorpions can make their homes in tunnels, which means you run the risk of a suspected anthill housing a scorpion as big as its chambers. This can remove its burrow attack from the equation and make it a little easier to focus on blocking its front attacks, but it can make retreat virtually impossible.
If you need scorpion parts but don't have the means to take one on in its prime, baby scorpions can give you what you need. These can be found in the sheltered area to the north. Just be aware of larger scorpions patrolling the area. Learn to kite the larger ones as you fight the smaller ones, and you should be able to block and turn tail as soon as you've looted whatever you need.
If beating a Scorpion doesn't go according to plan, you might get some handy upgrades simply by seeking out Milk Molar locations. Need a rest after facing your fears? Take a break with the best relaxing games for now.
