Scared about your ability to beat Ladybugs in Grounded 2? If you're after some great gear to carry you through your time in the park, you'll have to take on this gentle giant sooner rather than later. The infamous beginner beater from the original title is back, and the reason to risk it all on a kill is bigger than ever.

Early on, you'll struggle to go toe-to-toe with the bulky, beautiful bug. Its large body is easy to whack, but it's difficult to avoid, deals heavy damage, and features one of the highest health values of any bug in the park. A battle of brawn will boil down to sheer endurance, and that's a battle that comes with high risk even with top-tier armor.

Once you go through the trouble of making a best friend out of a Red Soldier Ant Egg at your own personal hatchery, you have the means to beat the Ladybug. Grab your best armor, weapons, and restoratives and take your new ride back to its home—or any other nearby anthill.
Assuming there's a Ladybug within range of the anthill, it's time to get to work. Head inside, use the Recruit hotkey to call your buggy's buddies to arms, and lead them to your prey. Hop off your ride and try to stay at the Ladybug's rear, whacking it with your best weapons while your Red Soldier Ant and its comrades attack from virtually every other angle.
If you're close enough to the anthill, you should have a steady supply of neighboring ants coming in to replenish any fallen friends. It'll still take some time, but the army of ants will chip away at the ladybug's massive health bar while you chop away at its behind.
Keep on the offensive, using the evade button to dodge if it turns to face you, and you'll soon get your win. Face it head-on and you'll need to deal with it tucking its head before. This reduces the damage it takes, wears down your stamina, is is eventually followed up with a little shimmy before a face (and painful) tackle. The Ladybug can also boost its own damage with a shriek as you wear it down. You'll especially want to watch out for that.
Grounded 2 Ladybug rewards
Come out unscathed and your prize is a Ladybug Head which you can use to upgrade your Omnitool, as well as other parts that can be used to forge into some new armor or weapons.
If you're having trouble with the Ladybug turning around and smacking you back to your spawn point, it's likely just an issue of aggro management. Wearing warrior-oriented gear like the Acorn Plate, while great for defense, comes with perks that help you generate more threat with each hit, and that includes the stat that dictates who a target turns its attention to. Swap it out for something more suitable, or make a habit of pulling your punches.
Make sure you're taking advantage of your ant army by letting them tank all the damage. It's a rough way to see the otherwise docile giant go down, but an army of ants really is the best way to beat up this versatile bug.
Where to find Ladybugs in Grounded 2
Ladybugs are a common sight around the first lab but can be found virtually everywhere. They seek Aphids to snack on, so they're often found slowly stomping around the tall grass.
To spot a Ladybug from afar, just look for grass being pushed around. Ladybugs move quite slowly, making it fairly easy to discern if it's a Ladybug pushing through the brush or another heavy-set critter. Just note that the appearance of other large insects, like Mosquitos, Stinkbugs, and even Wolf Spiders can make it a more challenging place to fight the already problematic prey.
