We're all getting older, we're all watching our gaming time slip away like tears in the rain, meaning we have to make a gut-wrenching choice what to play. I choose cool indie games, especially Twilight Wars, which looks like the neon-soaked lovechild of Cyberpunk 2077 and Diablo. After releasing two months ago to mostly positive Steam reviews, developer Comrade Bear Games has announced a deluge of post-launch content to wash those tears away and keep us entertained for hours to come. Including new difficulty modes, enhanced role-playing elements, and new narrative DLC, the updates promise to bring a smile to all but the most stubborn replicant's face.
Twilight Wars blends the best turn-based strategy games with engaging roguelite systems to create a genre-bending take on the oft-explored sci-fi subgenre.
The biggest announcement is that brand new narrative DLC. Comrade Bear Games doesn't offer a timeline for its release, but promises a new faction, recruitable agents, and high-octane missions. If you can't wait until then (whenever then may be), there are new Standalone Scenarios available to play now. These self-contained missions are designed with replayability in mind, and will continue to be released depending on player feedback.
You story lovers can now enjoy Easy Mode, which focuses on, well, the story rather than getting into the nitty gritty of turn-based combat. For those of you to opposite way inclined, Very Hard Mode offers "tougher, more consequential battles."
Comrade Bear Games is also iterating on Twilight Wars' combat in the update, adding arena conditions and interactive objects to the fray. You might be fighting on a moving train or burning rooftop now. Encounters should be more dynamic and missions will be randomized. Don't worry, though, as they'll be scaled to your current progress so as to present just the right level of challenge. You can also change your outfit now for ultimate immersion.
