Minecraft has been home to some great collabs over the years. We're no stranger to crossovers with other games or even movies in our favorite blocky sandbox game; we've traveled to the libraries of Candlekeep in the Dungeon and Dragons DLC, while Minecraft Legends' own mobs replaced enemies in Age of Empires 2. While some crossovers have left fans divided, it looks like the next big collab is set to make you feel blue - The Smurfs appear to be heading to Minecraft.
What makes Minecraft one of the best sandbox games out there is in the fact that its possibilities are seemingly endless. This latest collab appears to be no exception; the new Smurfs movie just hit cinemas, it looks like Mojang is ready to celebrate its release.
The crossover was teased on Minecraft Marketplace X account this weekend, showing a close up on what might be Papa Smurf in Minecraft. Mojang writes in the post, "The village is about to look different…" Consider me intrigued.
And we're not the only ones left wondering about the upcoming collaboration, with fans questioning the tease online. One X user writes "smurfs pls pls on minecraft bedrock", while another adds "Blue villagers are sus…"
The contents of the collab are still to be announced, so whether we will be able to shrink ourselves to explore a new tiny Smurf world or take advantage of new skins and Smurftastic items is still unknown, but I'll be eagerly waiting for further info. Even though the new Smurfs film isn't what you'd call an all-timer (in fact, it's one of this year's worst-rated new movies) it'll still be great to see these iconic blue characters in the game.
It's not the only crossover to be announced by Minecraft in recent days. Last week, we told you about how a new Crystal Suit was available in-game as part of the Minecraft x Swarovski collab, but only if you buy one of the $350 figurines up for grabs first. Earlier this month, Jamie told how you could grab five new Superman skins as part of a tie-in with the newly released Superman movie.
