There are many games with long development cycles and frequent delays that have eventually emerged from the shadows, like Duke Nukem Forever or Final Fantasy XV, and just as many that never released at all, like Half-Life 2: Episode 3 or Starcraft: Ghost. Exomecha, a multiplayer mech shooter with a Transformers vibe, has been dormant since 2020. But an upcoming livestream promises a new gameplay reveal and a release date.

In its announcement trailer, Exomecha looked to be a combination of Armored Core and Titanfall, putting it in conversation with some of the best mech games ever. Unlike the mechs from Titanfall, Exomecha's designs are big and cartoonish, wielding swords and shields. Players can also pilot airplanes and tanks, as well as brave infantry. Similar to Transformers, the mechs aren't all humanoid. The game also featured a fire-breathing, dragon robot which both teams could fight and defeat.

Exomecha was first announced in the summer of 2020, with a release date of August 1, 2021. Then it was delayed until 2022. Since then, we haven't heard a peep from the game's developers until now. There are no concrete details for the moment. The developers have promised that the livestream will show off new gameplay, that you'll be able to wishlist the game on Steam and the Epic Games Store after it airs, and that it will reveal a release date. The livestream will also serve to draw attention to a new Kickstarter campaign for the free-to-play FPS.

Exomecha's new gameplay reveal will launch on Thursday, July 17 at 5 AM PT / 8 AM ET / 1 PM BST / 2 PM CET.
