How do you save Painter Neal in THPS 3+4? San Fran is known for many things: the majestic Golden Gate Bridge, beautiful piers that are home to playful sea lions, and, in Tony Hawk's game, killer sharks, apparently. One of the first things you see as you start skating in San Francisco is a man holding on for dear life as a hungry shark attempts to swallow him whole - this is Painter Neal, and he needs your help.
Some objectives in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 are fairly self-explanatory, some, like the nosegrind around the horn, require a bit of sleuthing before you can complete them. Saving Painter Neal is part of the latter, as there are no real clues on how you can stop a giant killer shark near his location.
Firstly, you'll want to acquaint yourself with Painter Neal's location. He isn't hard to miss: as you begin your run, he's ahead and slightly to the right - you'll see a man hanging off a pier sign screaming for help.
Once you see where he is, look for a sphere next to the road opposite him. There are plenty of sculptures along this path, but you're after one with a bunch of sketchy-looking wires wrapped around it. Once you've found the sphere in question, you'll want to grind up the side of one wire, do a loop, and back down the other.
If done correctly, the wires will snap, and the sphere will become unstable. It needs a push to begin rolling, though, so approach it with speed, ollie, then press your ollie button again as you hit it to perform a wallplant.
The sphere will begin rolling toward Painter Neal, building up speed until it explodes off the end of the pier, taking the shark out with one swift hit. Painter Neal will help himself off the pier, and you've completed the goal.
Now that you've saved Painter Neal in THPS 3+4, you can get on with busting out some moves and smashing those point goals.
