There's no denying that retro horror aesthetics are incredibly popular in the videogame sphere at the moment.  You only have to look at the success of hits like Crow Country and Signalis, as well as the interest in the upcoming Holstin. But there's another new game on the scene, Pulsebreaker, that's worth keeping an eye on.

Developed by solo dev Anthony David Valles, the horror game was announced yesterday with a thrilling new trailer, packed full of low-poly visuals and zombies galore (and gore).  Inspired by Resident Evil and Fear Effect, Pulsebreaker aims to capture all of the things that make '90s PS1 hits so great.

Like all great, fallen metropolises in zombie games, a citywide outbreak has impacted the population and you're looking into the unknown cause. Pulsebreaker sounds like it has all the right ingredients: you'll be fighting your way through hordes of zombies, collecting resources, figuring out puzzles, and managing a limited inventory.

There's also varied combat, both melee and ranged, which changes with every new weapon you acquire as you battle your way through this zombie-infested world.

There's not much more info about Pulsebreaker's release date just yet, as it's only just been announced. If you're intrigued, though, you can check it out on Steam.
