As one of the oldest active MMORPGs, it's far from surprising to see that the Elder Scrolls Online system requirements aren't too tricky to meet, and this works out great for those with older gaming PCs who want to get started with this epic adventure.

Over 17,000 people a day play Elder Scrolls Online, and those are just the Steam numbers. Having the best GPU or CPU is far from a requirement, but the more powerful your gaming PC is, the better the game will perform.

Here are the Elder Scrolls Online system requirements in 2025:

Minimum Recommended
OS Windows 10 or later Windows 10 or later
GPU Nvidia GeForce GTX 560
AMD Radeon HD 6870
Nvidia GeForce GTX 970
AMD Radeon RX 570
VRAM At least 1GB At least 4GB
CPU Intel Core i5 2300
AMD FX 4350
Intel Core i5 2300
AMD FX 4350
Storage 105GB 105GB
RAM 4GB 8GB
Notes Broadband connection required
DirectX 11.0 compatible GPU required

The ESO minimum requirements haven't shifted since the 2014 release date, and unless a major graphical overhaul is on the horizon, we don't expect any of the system requirements to change anytime soon.

You'll only need an Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or AMD Radeon HD 6870 graphics card alongside an Intel Core i5 2300 or AMD FX 4350 CPU to run the game. You'll also only need 4GB of RAM, just a quarter of what we expect from modern 3D games.

Moving up to the ESO recommended specs, the same CPU options are listed as the minimum demands, but you'll now need an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 570 graphics card and 8GB of RAM.

As for the ESO download size, it sits at a beefy 105GB, although given how many updates and expansions have been released, this is quite a conservative size. Compare it to the Destiny 2 system requirements, which demand 300GB of free space, and you'll appreciate it a lot more. Still, even though it's not a requirement, having the best SSD that is compatible with your PC will help improve your in-game performance.
