Manor Lords' publisher Hooded Horse has signed on as the new publisher of Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, the first mainline Heroes of Might and Magic game in ten years. While Ubisoft was previously publishing Olden Era by itself, the Assassin's Creed and Ghost Recon studio has now teamed up with Hooded Horse, alongside Unfrozen, Olden Era's developer, to bring the tactical turn-based RPG to Steam Early Access.
Announced at Gamescom 2024, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is one of the most hotly anticipated strategy games and RPGs 2025 - with over 600,000 wishlists on Steam, it's already among the 50 most-wanted games on Valve's entire platform.
While Olden Era's official Steam page has listed Ubisoft - which has published the series since 2006 - as the publisher until now, Hooded Horse is now taking over the reins. But, unsurprisingly, Ubisoft remains in the pictures in what Hooded Horse calls "a support role" and retains ownership of the Heroes of Might and Magic IP.

It's, frankly, a dream team. Slavic Magic's medieval strategy sim Manor Lords took Steam by storm when it was released in early access back in 2024, offering ambitious city building and impressive historical accuracy. We're naturally hoping Hooded Horse brings its skills to the next Heroes of Might and Magic, and with Unfrozen, the studio behind turn-based tactical roguelike RPG Iratus: Lord of the Dead, heading up development, tactics fans are surely in for a treat.
From what we've seen so far, that certainly seems to be the case. Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era will feature new biomes, creatures, and factions, with Unfrozen already providing deep dives into the Necropolis, Dungeon, and Sylvan factions.
While no official release date has been given for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, we do know its early access Steam release is sometime later this year. We can only hope it's been worth the ten-year wait.
