The Elden Ring Tarnished Edition is the perfect reason to jump back into Fromsoftware's magnum opus. Coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2025, it includes the base game, Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and even some entirely new stuff. But even if you don't own a Switch 2, all of these extras are coming to other platforms. Best of all, a new ESRB rating could indicate that the Tarnished Edition, and its bonuses, are right around the corner.
As Fromsoftware detailed earlier this year, the Elden Ring Tarnished Edition is absolutely packed. You'll have two new classes to pick from, more armor sets, extra weapons, and new looks for your trusty steed Torrent. A mainstay on our best RPGs list is going to get even better.
If you don't have a Nintendo Switch 2, though, you don't need to worry. Fromsoftware has already made it clear that "The additional content in the title will also be available on other platforms." That said, it's still unclear when the Tarnished Edition's bonuses will come to PC. Hopefully they'll arrive at the same time as the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game, though only time will tell.
But there is some immediate good news. A new Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) listing for the Tarnished Edition has just arrived (via My Nintendo News). Typically, ratings like this are a signal that an in-development game is getting closer to launch. While the listing only mentions the Switch 2, and doesn't offer any fresh information on a PC release for the Tarnished Edition, it's a hint that the new version of Elden Ring could be on its way soon.
And if the Switch 2 version is on its way soon, that means us PC players are also getting closer to the Tarnished Edition's extras - even if there is a delay between the console and Steam releases, this new rating suggests that the Tarnished Edition is getting inexorably nearer.
