New Overwatch patch fixes one of its most annoying bugs, and introduces a CoD-style deathmatch mode
Bunnyhopping is a way of life. Whether you're trying to keep your APM up, or have spamming the spacebar ingrained into your muscle memory from thousands of hours of Counter-Strike, bouncing around in-game is as automatic as breathing. However, a recent Overwatch bug caught players off guard when opening up the scoreboard began to prevent them from jumping - Lucio mains in particular weren't best pleased. Well, Blizzard's now squashed the blighter, bringing peace and tranquility back to the hero shooter. Oh, and there's a new limited-time mode, 4v4 Evolved, if that tickles your fancy.
The latest Overwatch patch is much more modest in scope than last week's bumper update, which aimed to give Season 2's underperformers a win-rate boost, while tweaking a bunch of heroes in the FPS game's Stadium mode. This time around, the introduction of 4v4 Evolved, a limited-time team deathmatch mode, is the big headliner (unless, like me, you found the jumping bug particularly annoying).
In 4v4 Evolved, everyone's Emre. That's right, we're playing Call of Duty now. Here, every Emre gets an even start, though Blizzard says he's been "tweaked to make everyone a little more lethal when you lock in." I suspect time-to-kill will be absolutely rapid, so this is perhaps a good chance to get some aim training in - I'm a Winston main, so I'll pass. 4v4 Evolved is set to run until Monday, May 11, so you've got a solid amount of time to try it out.

Anyway, back to the real star of the show: jump bug. Okay, it wasn't that annoying, but I can certainly imagine a surprising number of players accidentally taking a long walk off a short walkway, the scoreboard open, trying to figure out who to blame if they lost the match. It was clearly game-breaking, so I'm glad Blizzard's fixed it.
Finally, Ramattra's terrifyingly loud ultimate call out has finally been turned down a notch. While I suppose hearing "suffer, as I have!" at 500% is lore-accurate, it definitely hasn't helped with the tinnitus. It's a tidy little patch, and maybe I will give 4v4 Evolved a spin; Winston's alt-fire is hitscan, after all.
