This new Skyrim mod is unashamedly vibe-coded, but it lets you swing NPCs into each other with ragdoll physics, so we all win

If there's one thing I can't get enough of, it's ragdoll physics in video games. While their inclusion can ruin the mood of some of the best RPGs by pinging people (and players) around like they're made of jelly, there's just something hilarious about them. Like puppets. And if this Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: Special Edition mod is half as good as it looks, I worry for the guards always chasing me out of Makarth. Seriously, I can't remember what I did there years ago, but they've never let me live it down.

Launching today, the Drag and Drop mod for Skyrim does, well… just that. It allows you to drag and drop NPCs like they're an empty bottle of Skooma. While the creator does openly admit to it being "largely generated through AI" and very much a product of vibe-coding, they defend themselves by adding that by "first learning how Skyrim's Havok physics, SKSE hooks, and GrabActor system actually work," they could point "an AI at the problem until something functional came out."

Or, in this case, dysfunctional. In the best way. Again, ragdoll physics always equals comedy gold - so what if someone didn't spend the better part of a year making this happen? Honestly, I think part of the reason Halo multiplayer did so well was because of just how far you'd accidentally fly after some of the most basic deaths. Falling flat on your face in Overwatch is always a hoot. Team Fortress? Garry's Mod? It just works.

Anyway, you only have to look at the first few seconds of the Drag and Drop mod video to see why I can't wait to wrap up work for the day. Everybody is a wrecking ball, and nobody really bats an eyelid. Grab someone, swing them around, then send them hurtling toward someone else. They get knocked down, and they get back up again. You're never going to keep them down! See? Comedy gold.

So committed to the cause is our hero Gerkinfeltser that they even suggest loading a few other Skyrim mods to boost the possibilities. Pairing it with the 'Knockout and Surrender' mod lets you beat someone senseless before dragging them away to "somewhere inconvenient," turning our dear Dovahkiin into something of a superhuman dragonborn delinquent. Toss the "Execute" patch in there, and tossing someone off a cliff will… well, you won't be dragging them over Ulfric's banquet tables again, that's for sure.

Best of all, there's support for configurable sound effects, too. I still crack up whenever I hear the classic "metal pipe falling" sound effect we modded over the dull weapon sound in Monster Hunter World years back, so I can only imagine the chaos someone will splice together with something like that.

Want to give it a go? Skyrim Special Edition is $39.99 right now. It's often on sale, so keep an eye out on Steam if you somehow don't have it already. You'll find Gerkinfeltser's Drag and Drop Skyrim ragdoll mod on Nexus Mods when you're ready to swing Farkus around like a wet noodle.
