Robocop: Rogue City is, on paper, the exact opposite style to my favorite shooters. I adore fast-paced, frenetic, and movement-based games where my skill is measured by how quickly (and stylishly) I can act. I'm talking about the likes of Neon White, Titanfall,  and Ultrakill. Rogue City, on the other hand, is all about being slow and methodical. You can't run and gun, but you can dominate a shootout simply by standing there and picking off goons one-by-one. As an encapsulation of the movies, it's nothing short of superb, and you can now experience it yourself for the cheapest it's ever been on Steam.

In Robocop: Rogue City, you step into the metallic boots of Alex Murphy while Detroit is in crisis. Set between the second and third films, you need to balance Murphy's detective skills with his raw, destructive power. So while you might spend half your time blowing gang member's heads off with the Auto 9, you also need to talk to victims and investigate crime scenes.

If, like me, you're a huge fan of old-school shooters and classic double-A games, Rogue City is absolutely worth a shot. Developer Teyon puts a lot of focus on how Murphy moves, acts, and deals with threats as Robocop, making sure he plays like a walking tank. You're slower than in most of the best FPS games we'd recommend, but the raw power you wield more than makes up for it.

The sale isn't the only reason why now's the perfect time to give Rogue City a go, either. Standalone expansion Robocop: Rogue City - Unfinished Business is here in just a few weeks, so you'll be caught up and ready to go in no time. I took a hands-on look for my Unfinished Business preview earlier this year, and found it to be a sequel that totally justifies itself. It feels leaner and more controlled, while the new ED-209 gameplay offers up a much-needed change of pace.

You can grab Robocop: Rogue City on Steam at 90% off, so expect to pay just $4.99 / £4.49 until Thursday July 10. Simply head here.
