If you stepped away from Palworld, now's the time to come back. Pocketpair's creature catcher has been going from strength to strength since it launched last year, and today marks a huge leap forward. The Palworld Terraria update has arrived, and it marries the two games in a way I'd never quite expected. The patch also introduces a slew of new mechanics to the base game, giving you more places to explore and even more Pals to catch.

If you jump into Palworld right now, the first thing you'll notice is the new Terraria crossover. Pocketpair has added a unique dungeon inspired by Re-Logic's beloved sandbox, featuring plenty of familiar foes. You'll come up against the dreaded Eye of Cthulhu, cave bats, and plenty of different colored slimes. Just like your favorite Pals, you can capture these Terraria-inspired monsters and put them to work. It might still be in early access, but Palworld continues to prove why it's on our best survival games list.

You won't just find Terraria-themed Pals in this new dungeon, either. If you collect materials as you explore, you can use what you find to recreate plenty of equipment from Re-Logic's game. There are six weapons and seven armor pieces to get, including the iconic silver armor. You'll need whatever you can get your hands on, too, because Terraria's terrifying Moon Lord will also act as this update's raid boss. With the wait for Terraria 1.4.5 tougher than ever, Palworld's crossover is sure to keep you entertained.

Palworld's v0.6.0 update isn't all about Terraria, though. You can finally fish for Pals with the craftable fishing rod, all you have to do is cast your line into the water where you see shadows. Once you've had enough of dry land, you can even jump on the back of a water Pal and salvage supplies at sea. Fishing while out on the waves lets you collect new ores, too, which will, in turn, help you bolster your weapons.

As you explore, you'll also come across new types of islands: tropical, iceberg, and shipwreck isles are here, with each being the home of completely new Pals for you to capture. Now that you've got all these extra Pals, you'll also be able to use the Pal trust mechanic. This system increases your Pals' stats the more time you spend with them, boosting their effectiveness at work and in battle. "The weaker a Pal's original stats are, the greater the trust adjustment will be, so even weaker Pals will be able to shine," Pocketpair explains.

There's also the brand new mission system, which gives you more to do as you explore the Palpagos Islands. NPCs throughout the game need your help, and completing their missions will net you special rewards. Zoe even has a collection of objectives for you, and if you do them all, you can eventually recruit her as an ally.

Palworld Terraria update out now

You're not the only one who can build a base now, either, as enemy factions can put up their own strongholds. "They are on high alert and will defend it with their lives," Pocketpair writes. "But if you manage to raid them successfully, you can obtain new blueprints for buildings related to that faction."

To round out the patch, Pocketpair has also raised the Palworld level cap from 60 to 65. With a handful of new weapons, buildings, and skills at your disposal as well, I don't think you'll have any trouble reaching that new limit.

The Palworld Tides of Terraria update is live now, so all you need to do is install the latest patch.

If you're jumping back into the game, make sure you check out all the Palworld bosses and Palworld mods to keep you busy.
