This retro appetizer gets its name from the bowtie shape rectangular crackers make once they're wrapped in bacon and baked. A sweet and spicy glaze is the perfect finishing touch. Popular during the 1970s, this 4-ingredient snack is perfect for parties and potlucks.

Ingredients

  • 10 slices regular-cut bacon (not thick cut)

  • 30 rich rectangular crackers (such as Club® crackers)

  • 1-2 Tbsp. maple syrup, optional

  • 1/8 to 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper, optional

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F. Line a 18x13x1-inch baking pan with parchment paper. Set wire rack on parchment.

  2. Cut each strip of bacon into 3 pieces, forming 30 pieces of bacon. Wrap a piece of bacon around each cracker and place on rack with the seam of the bacon placed down.

  3. Bake 55 minutes or until bacon is cooked and crisp. If desired, brush bacon with maple syrup and sprinkle with crushed red pepper. Bake 5 minutes more to allow the maple syrup to flavor the bacon. Cool on wire rack for 15 minutes before serving.

How to Store Bacon Crackers

Cover and refrigerate up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 5 to 10 minutes or until warm.
