With four maps to explore, not counting the trip to the moving base or any intermissions, there are plenty of places to mine for Minerals in The Alters.
Whether that's a Deep Deposit requiring a manned Mining Outpost, a finite Shallow Deposit that can be hand drilled, or one of the many small surface deposits strewn about the place, there are plenty of ways to top up your Minerals reserves on almost every map.
The Alters - Prologue Minerals location
Reach the Moving Base and make fuzzy contact with HQ, and you'll soon be on your way to collect resources from the world immediately around you.
If this is your second go and you're hoping to stockpile Minerals for the road ahead, tough luck—there is no source of Minerals in the Prologue map. You'll find Metals, Rapidium, and Organics aplenty, but Minerals are oddly missing from the area of this desolate rock.
The Alters - Act 1 Minerals location
On the wider map of Act 1, you'll find a Minerals location at the very back of the map.
Either take the short climb up near the Organics deposit and continue straight, or take the path around the Rapidium deposit. The latter avoids some pesky anomalies, but that's about the only real benefit.
The Outpost location is actually before the climb to the cliff above. Don't waste your energy. It's found tucked away in the smaller corner close to the route back to the Organics spot.
The Alters - Act 2 Minerals location
The Act 2 map is frankly gargantuan. If you're not careful, you'll blow days worth of time, resources, and energy finding alternate routes to the same spots. And with so many obstacles tricking you into thinking Deep Deposit locations are a quick drill or climb away, you'd be finding out the hard way that it's rarely true.
This map has two spots for most mining materials, and with good reason. Due to multiple story-mandated apparatus needing stacks of Minerals to craft in the workshop, you'll want to hit up the deep and shallow Mineral mining spots highlighted above, and the outpost spots below.
Take note that reaching the large vein doesn't require drilling through the rock or climbing high. It's in the little pocket on the lower level. Blast through the anomalies there and you're golden.
The Alters - Act 3 Minerals location
In the dire straits of Act 3, you'll find one lonely Minerals spot hiding towards the back of the map.
Depending on the route you take, you might have to deal with an energy barrier, time dilation, a prism anomaly, and even a small climb. Head straight through the middle, though, and only the last two should apply.
Use your pylons to uncover the outpost spot in the left-most corner just after the climb, and you'll have access to Minerals when you truly need them most.
Of course, with so many anomalies around the map in this chapter, using the Refinery and the ALX to Minerals research can get you about as much as you'll need to get the job done. This is just a more autonomous and reliable route if you care to take the risk.
And that should be everything you need to know about The Alters Minerals locations and mining spots for each act and map. Ready to wrap things up?
