Looking for an excuse to dive into cozy online life sim Palia? Then you'll be happy to hear that this MMO, which merges Stardew Valley and Runescape, has received a major new update. Dubbed Radiance Rising, it adds new plush toys, additional quests and an all-new decor set that will let you "Glamp in style", you know, just in case you want a break from all that farming, friendship, and exploration.
If the merest mention of the word 'glamping' raises your hackles, we apologize. But we're old enough that we'd sooner have an air-conditioned mega-yurt and a plumbed-in toilet, so we're glad this update for free-to-play life game Palia caters to us.
In fact, this cozy title has come a long, long way since our Palia preview. Developer Singularity 6 Corporation has added a wealth of new material, including Palia's Elderwood Expansion. So, what else do you get with this Radiance Rising Palia update?
For a start, Palia's latest patch introduces a three-part questline, Hunt for Prismbeard's Treasure. Completing these piratical tasks will net you a lamp, figurehead, statue, and a warm fuzzy feeling of accomplishment.
The update also adds in six new discovery quests, including the tale of "the eccentric inventor who once lived on your plot." We've seen enough horror movies to be deeply suspicious of that one, but given how wholesome Palia is, it probably won't end with him clawing his way out of the grave. Probably.
On top of that there's a festival, Piskii Blossom Bounce, where you can bounding off of mushrooms to catch seeds in midair. You can also craft several new plushies, an avian one included, and net yourself a free pet!
The latter will, however, require a little effort, and you'll need to have completed the "Something Wicked" and "Pieces of the Past" quests. With those under your belt you can undertake another three-part adventure, which will reward you with a fuzzy pal. It's not just for show, however, you can also send it home with items, if you're getting too overloaded. Previously, you had to pay for that feature.
Those are the major changes in the new Palia update. The full patch notes outline the dozens of bug fixes and minor tweaks Singularity 6 Corporation has also made. If you've stepped away from Palia, this new update should give you plenty of reason to return.
