I Bought This Italian Leather Quince Handbag for Under $100—and It’s My Favorite Purchase of the Year

I’ve been on the hunt for a classic wardrobe staple for a few months: a black handbag. While I have a Kate Spade bag that I love, I wanted one that was a little smaller and more casual.

That said, I was having trouble finding a purse that struck the balance of quality and affordability—I didn’t want a cheaply made one that would fall apart after a couple of seasons of wear, but I also didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on something for myself in the midst of last-minute Christmas shopping.

After weeks of browsing in stores and online and patiently waiting for just the right one to fall into my lap, I finally found the perfect one—this slouchy Italian leather handbag from Quince.

I love the versatility of the bag—it has a longer strap that can be removed to convert the purse from a crossbody to a handbag or shoulder bag (so really, it’s like two bags in one).

I tend to keep the strap off for most of my outfits, but I add it back on if I’m going to be moving around a lot or need my hands to be free. There are two gold D-rings on either side of the smaller strap to attach the longer strap, but it can also be used for purse accessories like bag charms.

Although it’s a fairly small bag, I’m surprised at just how much I can fit inside. There is plenty of room for my phone, wallet, keys, lipstick, a medicine bottle, and my sunglasses without the bag looking overstuffed.

My favorite part of the bag’s design is that it has a somewhat slouchy, relaxed style, but it still has enough structure that it doesn’t flop over when you set it down or store it in your closet.
