Delicious news: Grilling season is officially here, and while your standard grill grates can handle lunch and dinner with ease, breakfast food is another story. That’s where a portable, outdoor-friendly griddle comes in—its versatility means it can sizzle up eggs and bacon or take on trendy summer favorites like fajita quesadillas and corn ribs.
The 17-inch Blackstone Tabletop Griddle is a fan favorite that retails for $120—but last week, ALDI stocked its own Rangemaster version for half the price (while supplies last). Here's what to know about how they compare, so you can decide whether to splurge or save.

Rangemaster Griddle Specs
The Rangemaster Tabletop Gas Griddle returned to ALDI on June 4 and costs $60. The flat top griddle looks almost identical to Blackstone's, with only a few minor differences in size and design.
It has a pre-seasoned steel griddle top and a simple base with a dial and a propane tank hook up on the side. (The tank is not included on either version.) The griddle top gets smoking hot, with a total of 1,800 British Thermal Units (BTUs), and it features an easy-access grease cup for quick clean up.
The two cookers are also almost the same size: The ALDI version in its entirety measures 26.8-inches wide by 17.5-inches deep by 8.5-inches tall. Blackstone’s griddle measures 17.1-inches wide by 21.8-inches deep by 8.5-inches tall. According to ALDI, its version gives you a total of 260 square inches of cooktop, which is comparable to Blackstone's.
The medium size is convenient enough to take on the go for camping, a beach day, or a backyard hangout yet large enough to cook enough food for a large family.

Maintaining Your Pre-Seasoned Griddle Top
The griddle tops on both the Blackstone and Rangemaster are pre-seasoned and should be treated like cast iron to keep them in optimal condition. To clean a griddle top, simply wipe it down with a little water while the surface is still warm and skip the soap. (There are designated griddle scrapers you can use for this.) Once you remove any food debris, coat with a light layer of cooking oil to maintain the seasoning. You can also use a quick coat of oil before you use it the next time.
