What is the Pragmata release date? Capcom's bizarre not-quite-Kojima game, Pragmata, has been simmering away for some time now. Placing you in the boots of Hugh, you'll be making your way through a dystopic lunar research station with your adorable android companion, Diana.
Initially revealed back in 2020, Pragmata has had quite a development cycle. However, we finally have a more concrete idea of when the upcoming PC game will arrive, as well as what the action-adventure space game entails. Read on for the latest Pragmata news and trailers.
Pragmata will release in 2026. This was confirmed by Capcom at the end of the 'First Contact' trailer that aired during June 2025's PlayStation State of Play. Pragmata will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, and PC via Steam.
First unveiled back in 2020, Pragmata was initially expected to launch in 2022. However, this had been pushed back to 2023 by the end of 2021. Three years after the reveal, in June 2023, Pragmata was delayed indefinitely, prompting fears that the game would be nixed.
"Our team is currently hard at work making the best game that we possibly can, but we need more time," Capcom said at the time. "We will continue to do our best to ensure that the final product is one that is worthy of your patience."
Thankfully, Pragmata resurfaced in June 2025. While details are still thin on the ground, Capcom has confirmed that it'll finally hit storefronts in 2026. Here's hoping there are no further delays…
Pragmata trailers
The Pragmata announcement trailer was a real head turner. Here we see a man in a spacesuit walking through an abandoned city, seemingly based on New York. He stops, loading and shooting some sort of flare gun into the air, causing it to rain down particles. These particles appear to let him track his target - a young girl - when used in conjunction with the scanner on his helmet.
The scene then cuts to the girl in question, who is on her hunches in the street with nought but a robotic, hologram-projected cat for company. Shortly after, the man finds her. In a Truman Show-style twist, the city's skybox is destroyed by a falling satellite, creating a vacuum and sucking the pair up into the sky. The girl is revealed to be some sort of android with the means to bend and alter technology to her will, creating a rubbery cage that protects them from the falling debris. After reaching the top of the sky box, the city is revealed to be contained within Earth's moon - quite the cliffhanger.
November 2021's 'Coming 2023' trailer was far more brief in scope, and simply served to deliver the bad news that the game was being delayed. Here, Diana sheepishly holds up a '2022 -> 2023, sorry :(' sign as the camera slowly pulls back. It's easily the cutest delay message we've ever seen.
2023 arrived, and Pragmata was still nowhere to be seen. Its second delay came as little surprise to anyone, but at the very least, the 'June 2023' trailer did offer up a morsel of gameplay by way of apology. Here we see the girl, now identified as Diana, drawing the picture on the floor while the spacesuited man fights robotic entities with energy swords.
As the pair dips, Diana's picture falls to the floor. '2022 -> ?, VERY sorry :(' - here we go again. After, we get a quick gameplay montage that confirms the game is third-person, incorporates dodging mechanics, will let you command mechs of some description, and requires you to utilize both the man's skillset and Diana's hacking abilities.
Most recently, the First Contact trailer finally gives us a taste of some of the worldbuilding going into Pragmata. From what's been shared, there's a megacorp called Delphi that's effectively using sci-fi-grade 3D printing tech and generative AI to produce everything from vehicles to entire cities.
Of course, the big shiny megacorp appears to have a less-than-virtuous side to it, which the spacesuited man, Hugh, seems to have found out the hard way. Fortunately, Diana patches him up before revealing herself to be a Pragmata (she said the name of the game!) Another montage ensues, showing Hugh and Diana's symbiotic shoot-and-hack gameplay.
And that's all we know about Pragmata so far. While you're waiting for the next big update, check out the best action-adventure games you can dive into right now.
