3. Operation Pastorius: Saboteurs on American Soil
In June 1942, eight German agents infiltrated the United States with plans to sabotage critical infrastructure, including bridges and factories, to disrupt the American war effort. However, their mission was thwarted when one of the agents defected and alerted authorities. The FBI swiftly apprehended the saboteurs, leading to their trial and execution.
