Final Fantasy 14 7.4's tomestone changes have arrived, so make sure you spend them before they're gone

As Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail winds down and we look towards Eorzea's future, it's time for the annual Allagan tomestone rotation. Coming into FF14 7.4, Aesthetics tomestones will be removed, replaced with Mnemonics. If you've got a stack in your inventory, make sure you exchange them before Into The Mist drops, but note that your Heliometry tomestones are changing, too.

As discussed in its November 19 blog post, Square Enix confirms that the Aesthetics tomestones will be removed entirely with Final Fantasy 14's 7.4 update, so if you've got some sitting in your inventory, you'll need to use them up soon. Alternatively, if you've got a whole stack, you can exchange them for Heliometry tomestones by visiting Auriana in Revenant's Toll.

There are changes to Heliometry too, however, as these will no longer be available. These can be transformed into tomestones of Mathematics with Auriana, and duties that drop them will now offer Mathematics or new currency Mnemonics instead. While Heliometry tomestones won't be removed entirely in 7.4, the items you'd buy with them will "be made available through other means."

The weekly farm cap on Mathematics will be removed, but the upper inventory limit of 2,000 does still apply. It's probably worth splashing some of the Heliometry cash on Quetzalli gear, then, especially if you've got a lot lying around - you've got to complete your collection, after all.

The new Allagan tomestones of Mnemonics will effectively replace both Aesthetics and Heliometry, and will be made available to players who have achieved level 100 in their class or job. Poetics tomestones will remain active as always, and can be exchanged for gear up to level 90.

While longtime fans are pretty accustomed to the comings and goings of various tomestones, it's worth making sure that you've got everything in order ahead of 7.4's release.

Final Fantasy 14 patch 7.4, Into the Mist, is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday December 16, so make sure you get rid of your tomestones of Aesthetics ahead of the game's maintenance period. You can read all about the update in Ken's FF14 7.4 summary.
