Battlefield 6 is going free-to-play for one week only, just in time for you to try its new map and mode
The shooter space is now the most competitive I've seen it in a long time, with huge competition from the likes of Black Ops 7, Arc Raiders, and Delta Force jostling alongside Battlefield 6 for your precious gaming hours. Clearly keen to strike while the iron of its California Resistance update is still hot and drum up some extra players, Battlefield Studios has announced that a new week-long free trial for BF6 will be taking place later this month.
Battlefield 6 has just launched the second part of its Season 1 roadmap, with California Resistance bringing new weapons, limited-time mode Sabotage, and one of its best maps yet in Eastwood. I wrote last week about how Eastwood had the potential to help rectify the big, prevailing issue of its map design, and already the response has been incredibly positive.

With some of its initial quibbles addressed, it's an opportune time to showcase what BF6 is about to players who have stayed their course, avoiding the initial wave of hype while biding their time before deciding whether the FPS game is worth playing or not. If you're part of this group, it's worth noting the upcoming trial won't quite give you access to everything the game has to offer. That said, you will at least get to try out Eastwood, alongside fellow California Resistance map pool debutant Blackwell Fields and the fan favorite Siege of Cairo.
But what about modes? Well, again, you won't get the full seven course meal, but staples like Team Deathmatch, Conquest, and Breakthrough, alongside California Resistance's Sabotage, will all be available to you. It's not the full works, sure, but it's more than enough to help you decide whether you want to buy in.

The Battlefield 6 free trial will take place from Tuesday, November 25, 2025, until Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Check out the California Resistance mid-season roadmap for more on what you can expect when you load in for the first time.
Now a month post-launch, the Battlefield 6 team is already making strides towards getting it into the best possible spot to wrestle with its rivals long-term. From here, it's all about consistency, and continuing to iterate in a way that deftly balances player sentiment and studio ideology. Though it's still not quite up there with the best of the best the series has to offer just yet, it's some of the most fun I've had in a Battlefield game for a long time. Just sayin'.
