The Dying Light The Beast launch date is confirmed, and there's not long to wait

During the zombie apocalypse, it's never the undead that are the real threat. As far back as the original Resident Evil, it was Wesker, not the T-Virus mutants, that you really had to keep an eye on. In State of Decay 2, it's the bandit enclaves. In DayZ, it's other players. In Project Zomboid, it's a tree stump that somehow suddenly jumps out in front of your speeding car. And in Dying Light The Beast, it's the sinister Baron, who's been running some extremely unethical experiments on you and your fellow survivors. The good news is that Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition owners get to take on this imposing new foe for free. The better news is that the Dying Light The Beast launch date is coming this August.

We've been waiting for word on the Dying Light The Beast release date ever since Techland first announced its standalone, zombie game spin-off. Just to reiterate, this isn't the true Dying Light 3. Instead, you play as Kyle Crane, a grizzled survivalist who, 13 years ago, was captured by the Baron and used as a guinea pig for his various pseudo scientific kitbashes. Finally free, you're on a quest for revenge. Former vacation hotspot Castor Woods is home to the undead in all shapes and sizes; they're comparatively placid by day, but at night they enter a fully fledged fleshy feeding frenzy.

Techland has already confirmed that Dying Light The Beast will be totally free to everyone who owns Dying Light 2 Stay Human Ultimate Edition. Now, alongside a new trailer for Summer Game Fest, the developer has pinned down the precise launch day.

The Dying Light The Beast release date is confirmed for Friday August 22.
