If you love No Man's Sky, this life-changing single-player space game is now cheaper than ever
There are a few games that I wish I could play for the first time again. Kingdom Hearts 2, Subnautica, and Minecraft, to name a few, but if I had a Neuralizer from Men in Black, I'd wipe my memory of Outer Wilds. As a fan of the best space games and someone who loves a good ol' time-looping adventure, I admire the mechanical brilliance of Outer Wilds, but the narrative alone makes it a big enough reason to buy this game, and right now it's down to its cheapest price ever.
Is it really that good? Yes, Outer Wilds is exceptional. While many story-driven games with similarly deep, thought-provoking themes are wrapped in cutscenes and lore, developer Mobius Digital leans into the open-ended nature of the universe and uses environmental storytelling in order to push the plot forward, refusing to hold your hand as you set off on your adventure.
As a new recruit for the Outer Wilds Ventures program, your job is to explore a solar system that is constantly changing, with mysteries to uncover from alien civilizations and dangerous environments to navigate. With an endless 22-minute time loop that ends with the star going supernova, it's your job to discover why this is happening and figure out how to stop it.

I won't go further into the story, or what happens in the excellent Echoes of the Eye DLC, but the game plays like a mix of Subnautica and No Man's Sky. As you manage your tools and oxygen levels, you'll be forced to constantly fight your fear to traverse new planets and unravel the mysteries of the solar system, before the inevitable reset requires you to start again. Fortunately, your ship's data is the one thing that doesn't reset with each no loop.
Right now, Outer Wilds is only $12.49 / £9.99 at Fanatical, which is the cheapest price this gem has ever been. You can also grab the fantastic Echoes of the Eye expansion for just $8.24 / £6.59 at Fanatical, too, which adds some interesting horror-like elements to the Outer Wilds universe. I recommend getting it all, as this game is an absolute essential indie.
However, you don't have long to take advantage of this offer, as Fanatical's discount on Outer Wilds - and its major expansion - expires on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 4pm PT / 7pm ET or Monday, November 17, 2025 at 12am GMT for any Brits out there.
