Only a few people will get this early Mafia The Old Country discount

We've had to wait nine long years, but finally, a new entry in the Mafia mainline series is on the horizon, and thanks to Fanatical, those who haven't secured their pre-order yet can do so for a welcome discount. Well, some of them will, anyway. Right now, Fanatical is offering up to 13% off Mafia: The Old Country Standard Edition pre-orders and 12% off Deluxe Edition pre-orders ahead of the mobster action-adventure's Thursday, August 7 release date… but only for customers in the UK.

A new Mafia game has been a long time coming. The last mainline entry in the brilliant action game series was 2016's Mafia 3, which followed Vietnam veteran Lincoln Clay and his nefarious deeds in New Orleans-inspired New Bordeaux, but Mafia: The Old Country sees the series returning to its classic Italian mobster roots.

Set in the 1900s, Mafia: The Old Country explores the criminal underworld of Sicily, the origins of the Sicilian Mafia (a.k.a. the Cosa Nostra), and the unforgiving brutality of the era. In this gritty mobster tale, you play Enzo Favara, who, following a childhood of forced labor, is determined to do anything for a better life – including joining the Torrisi crime family.

Hangar 13's immersive third-person action adventure will see you eliminating the Don's enemies with authentic period shotguns, knives, and more, and making speedy getaways in turn-of-the-century automobiles or on horseback down dusty country roads and cobbled streets. While several of the gameplay mechanics haven't been confirmed yet, we're hoping for plenty of nefarious side jobs, like running rackets (not using the Mafia 3 mechanic) and stealing cars.

I'm very excited about this game, as the recreation of 1900s Sicily showcased in the trailers (including the one above) looks very impressive and varied. What's more, this Mafia game appears to offer much more freedom than its predecessor and seems to be a concerted effort to return to the series' roots. Plus, let's be honest, I want to live out my own thrilling crime drama.

Now is the perfect time for you (and me) to secure our pre-orders, as Fanatical has knocked 13% off the Standard Edition of Mafia: The Old Country and 12% off the Deluxe Edition ahead of launch. That means you can pick up the Standard Edition for £39.14 (down from £44.99) and the Deluxe Edition for £48.39 (down from £54.99). While this price is unfortunately not being offered to Fanatical's US customers, historically, we have seen some of its deals reach the US after a period of UK exclusivity.

Pre-ordering either edition grants you the Soldato Pack, which features "distinctive cosmetics and a helpful Charm," but the Deluxe Edition packs in even more goodies, including the Padrino Pack, the Gato Nero Pack, and the digital art book and original soundtrack.
