New Schedule 1 update lets you become a sewer gremlin to evade police, but you're not alone down there

Spooky season may be behind us, but some people are still playing catch-up. Pumpkins begin to degrade on doorsteps, decorative cobwebs are slowly replaced by tinsel, and the egg stains from a successful mischief night are washed out of clothes. But for Schedule 1 developer TVGS, Halloween is just beginning. After a minor delay, its spooktacular update has been released and reveals no ghosts or ghouls, but a complex sewer system that sprawls under the town you know, love, and distribute illegal narcotics in.

The Schedule 1 Halloween update is more of an update at Halloween than a Halloween-themed update, hence the lack of furore about the delay. While the developer apologizes for its tardiness in the patch notes, I'm glad TVGS decided to beta test the update before release, despite the fact it meant the update wouldn't release on October 31.

As a mainstay on our list of the best simulation games going, Schedule 1 has received a steady stream of updates since its release earlier this year. This time around, we're diving into the stinky underbelly of the drug-addled town. That's right, TVGS has added a complex sewer system to the game.

The sewers are a great way to evade capture by the police, or do your sneaky dealings in subterranean safety. However, this also leads to a bunch of other additions. To access the sewers, ladders and climbing have been added, and incorporated above ground, too. There are also new keys and access points, as well as the mysterious Sewer King and Sewer Goblin NPCs. And there I was thinking I'd be the only sewer gremlin crawling through shit to peddle by illegal wares.

TVGS has also tweaked and improved over a dozen systems, and fixed half as many bugs. It also mentions that a patch to fix multiplayer connection issues should be released before the forthcoming Shrooms update.
