What are the best Elden Ring Nightreign mods? From the lack of duos support, barely any scaling for solo mode, to general PC tweaks that should've been in the base game, there are many things the devs could've done to improve Elden Ring Nightreign. In only a few minutes, you can load up the best Elden Ring Nightreign mods to rectify all these issues and so much more.
As we highlighted in our Elden Ring Nightreign review, there are elements of the roguelike game that could be drastically improved with some QoL tweaks. Fortunately, we don't have to wait for FromSoftware to get into gear as the modding community is already hard at work addressing all the glaring issues in Elden Ring Nightreign. We're here to help you improve the game with the best Elden Ring Nightreign mods, including instructions on how to install them.
Here are the best Elden Ring Nightreign mods:
- Seamless Co-op (Duos)
- Fun Is Allowed (Rebalancing)
- No Circle Damage
- Ultrawide Support
- FOV Tweak
- Disable Chromatic Aberration
- Unlock the FPS
Seamless Co-op (Duos)
The FromSoftware multiplayer savior, Luke Yui, returns once again with the Seamless Co-op mod for Nightreign, enabling support for duos. While this is something the devs have promised is coming in a future update, there is no timeframe as to when we can expect it. For now, you can use Seamless Co-op to play with your friend without having to wait for the matchmaking service to pair you up with a random player. What's more, the mod also features scaling for duos, so the game will be less difficult to accommodate for your smaller party size.
There are some limitations with this mod that you need to be aware of. The more glaring issue is that this mod is in an alpha state, so you're likely to experience some bugs during gameplay. That said, our experience with the mod has mostly been smooth, barring the odd desynchronization issues that may have been caused by slow internet. Support for more than three players in a party is in the works, and Yui has talked about adding PvP to the game on his Patreon blog. This will finally give players a chance to find out which of the Elden Ring Nightreign classes is the strongest.
Fun Is Allowed (Rebalancing)
It's okay to admit that you may not be enjoying Nightreign due to the game's over-tuned difficulty, but don't worry, MrGaiety's Fun Is Allowed mod is here to save the day. Designed for use with Seamless Co-Op in both Elden Ring Nightreign solo and duos, this rebalancing mod adjusts several aspects of the game to create a more relaxed experience without making things too easy.
In addition to starting with a Wending Grace so you can automatically revive one time when you get knocked down, the mod also changes your overall stats, damage output, and equipment to improve your survivability while making you stronger. There have been multiple versions of this mod so far, as the creator is continuing to fine tune things based on suggestions from the Nightreign community.
No Circle Damage
Nightreign hasn't been designed to be explored at your leisure, as evidenced by the Night's Tide circle that will slowly drain your health if you step outside the designated zone. With Keiran1925's No Circle Damage mod, you can take all the time you want, giving you free rein to explore this altered version of Limgrave at your pace.
Ultrawide Support
For all you ultrawide monitor users, FromSoftware continues to hate your guts, ignoring every opportunity to support aspect ratios beyond the usual widescreen layouts. Luckily, the Ultrawide Support mod from Adam Gdovin lets you utilize your entire screen, albeit with some downsides. This mod is a fork of the UltrawideFix mod for Elden Ring, so there are some quirks that could be addressed down the line when modders have access to better tools. For now, you will have to change the resolution every time you play, but this is a small price to pay to remove those horrid black bars.
FOV Tweak
If you've ever yearned to see more of the battlefield in Nightreign, VileBeggar's FOV Tweak mod lets you adjust the field of view, giving you the perspective you've always dreamed of. This is particularly useful when combined with Ultrawide Support, letting you really take advantage of all that screen real estate to see every enemy in the distance. With three different options to pick from (65, 75, and 85), it never hurts to give a slightly different perspective a try.
Disable Chromatic Aberration
This is yet another FromSoftware quirk that we wish the developers didn't insist on, forcing players to use this controversial graphics setting while offering no option to turn it off. Chromatic aberration produces a color fringing effect similar to a camera lens, but this results in blurry, distant objects with strange colors that don't suit the game's art direction. Giorma's Disable Chromatic Aberration mod lets you turn off this cursed effect, making your game look crystal clear.
Unlock the FPS
For reasons that elude us, FromSoftware continues to put out games capped at 60fps. This isn't an engine limitation as some people initially suspected, which means breaks when you remove the cap. Loukious has created a fork of techiew's Unlock the FPS mod to remove Nightreign's frame rate cap shackles, freeing us from 60fps hell. Now you can experience the smoothest version of Nightreign possible to take full advantage of your gaming monitor.
How to install Elden Ring Nightreign mods
As Elden Ring Nightreign is a multiplayer game, there are some drawbacks to using these mods. The majority of the mods on this list alter the game's data files in some way, meaning you cannot play on the official servers without potentially facing a ban.
That doesn't mean you can't always switch back to the official servers if you decide to use mods. When playing the game with mods, Nightreign uses a different save system to differentiate between your modded and unmodded files. This means you won't be able to take the progress you've made on your modded game back to the official servers.
Nightreign uses Steam to connect players to each other, so as long as you're playing with someone using these mods (and who wouldn't want to use these mods?), you should have no problems playing with your friends. This also means that you can keep playing the games even when the Elden Ring Nightreign servers go down, allowing you to play whenever you want.
Here's are the steps to install Elden Ring Nightreign mods:
- Download the Elden Ring Mod Loader from Nexus Mods.
- Extract the contents into your Elden Ring Nightreign folder, usually located in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN\Game", but this will depend on where you installed the game.
- You should now see a 'Mods' folder within the Nightreign directory, copy your downloaded mods into this folder.
- The next time you boot up the game, all of your mods should load.
The installation instructions may vary depending on the type of mod you're downloading, so be sure to double-check the description on Nexus Mods to ensure you're following the correct steps. The main exception to these instructions is the Seamless Co-Op mod, though it's practically the same, with the main difference being that it doesn't use the Mod Loader.
And that's all you need to use the best Elden Ring Nightreign mods. Even if you've tweaked your game to make the game easier, that doesn't mean you aren't going to need some help tackling the Elden Ring Nightreign bosses.
