When you look at our list of the best roguelikes, you'll immediately be struck by how many forms the randomized run formula can take on. From the poker-themed Balatro, to the manor house puzzling of Blue Prince and the bullet heaven mayhem of Vampire Survivors; there's remarkable breadth. Aligning more closely with that third example is Brotato, a punchy, chaotic, top-down auto-shooter that's one of the highest rated roguelikes on Steam. For our latest giveaway, we're dishing out a bunch of codes for both the base game and its Abyssal Terrors DLC, so read on if you fancy a chance at adding it to your library.
Brotato's premise sounds like it was created by one of those scenario games, where each person contributes an idea without knowing what the previous person said. You're a sentient potato… You can hold up to six incredibly lethal weapons at once… You're fighting aliens. Nice work, guys, let's ship it! Like Vampire Survivors, your attacks are automatic, but you've still got to build your loadout strategically and move expertly around each map in order to complete your run.
Speaking of aliens, there are loads of different enemy units to face, all with different behaviors and attacks. The Abyssal Terrors DLC throws several more into mix, all with an aquatic theme. A disturbed aquatic theme, at that. The units are based on some of the sea's most terrifying or grotesque creatures, such as anglerfish, goblin sharks, and giant squid.

There are 16 new weapons, too, all of which are also inspired by the deep blue sea. From a blunderbuss, to a trident, to a harpoon gun; your combat options just got a lot more varied. New characters, which are essentially personality variants of the titular 'tato, have also been added, including the Buccaneer, the Romantic, and the Gangster.
With a 96% user score on Steam, there are few roguelikes that can match or eclipse Brotato in that metric. While your first run may feel like a short experience, it's packed with replayability - you can easily spend dozens of hours trying encounters at higher difficulties and with different characters as you unlock them. With the DLC thrown in as well, you've got plenty to get hooked on.
With Abyssal Terrors now out in the wild, we've teamed up with developer Blobfish to give base game and DLC codes out to ten lucky winners. All you need to do is enter by completing the tasks on the widget below. Entries for this giveaway will close 5am PT / 8am ET / 1pm GMT on Friday, November 7.
