Who are the new Honkai Star Rail characters? Like all gacha games, Honkai Star Rail includes an ever-expanding roster of characters. From bubbly extroverts to brooders with a dark past, there's no end to the number of fan favorites we can expect to encounter on our Trailblazing expedition. We've collated them all into one handy guide, so you can keep track of who they are and how they appear in the story.

Most of the characters in Honkai Star Rail are available to pull from HSR banners, though the free PC game also has various upcoming characters scheduled to appear as well. Some of them will achieve greatness at the top of our Honkai Star Rail tier list, while others will still win plenty of fans thanks to their glowing personality. Either way, Honkai Star Rail Stellar Jade and the latest Honkai Star Rail codes are essential if you plan to pull all characters.

We have strong evidence that points towards the debut of several upcoming Honkai Star Rail characters, both from their prominent appearance in the RPG game's story and leaks that include character models and kit abilities.

Cifera is a master thief that hones her craft in Dolos, the lost city of rogues. While she has an affiliation with the 300 Rogues, a lawless organization based in the city, she prefers to work alone. Her agility and cunning disposition are the primary tools of her trade, but this unlikely Chrysos Heir also has the Trickery Coreflame up her sleeve.

Phainon

Rarity: Five-star

Path: Destruction

Phainon assists the Trailblazer in their attempt to enter Okhema, but he's much more than a lone wanderer. This Chrysos Heir hails from Aedes Elysiae, a remote village that was destroyed by the Flame Reaver. Phainon was tormented by visions of this incident during the Trial of the Strife Coreflame. Nevertheless, this hero refuses to let it define him, and graciously accepts the title of Deliverer imparted to him by the people of Okhema.

Archer

Archer is a crossover character in the upcoming Honkai Star Rail x Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works collaboration. A servant of Rin Tohsaka, Archer is a nihilist with a sarcastic streak that once fought with Saber during the Holy Grail War. While Archer remains sceptical of the Hero of Justice, but he remains steadfast in his pursuit of justice.

Saber

Saber is a crossover character in the upcoming Honkai Star Rail x Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works collaboration. Otherwise known as Artoria Pendragon, this heroic knight is a fierce warrior in the Holy Grail War. While she seems reserved and emotionally distant, this mask only hides her true feelings.

Aglaea

Anaxa

Anaxagoras is one of the Seven Sages of the Grove of Epiphany. The arrogant founder of the Nousporists embarks upon alchemical research into the fundamental truths of existence, and he loves an audience. However, the height of his ambition surpasses that of the Sacred Tree of wisdom. This Chrysos Heir is prepared to challenge the Coreflame of Reason, no matter how blasphemous is colleagues believe him to be. Anaxa has limited time left to live, but he considers his mortality just another challenge on his way to uncover the ultimate truth.

Argenti

Rarity: Five-star

Path: Erudition

Argenti is one of the Knights of Beauty, a faction that remains faithful to the fallen Aeon Idrila. He believes that the beauty of Idrila is eternal, and champions elegance above all else. As a knight, Argenti upholds the virtues of chivalry and courtesy – but that doesn't mean he shies away from the battlefield. In fact, Argenti is a fiercely capable warrior, forcing his opponents to yield by wielding his spear to devastating effect.

Arlan

As head of the Security Department aboard the Herta Space Station, Arlan is willing to risk his life in order to protect the researchers and their work – especially Asta. He also has a pet named Peppy, who is a source of comfort for the young leader. On that note, the best Honkai Star Rail Arlan build is certain to put a pep in your step.

Asta

As the lead researcher aboard the Herta Space Station, Asta uses her influence and impressive bank balance to manage the demands of both the Intelligentsia Guild and her hot-headed members of staff. She's reluctant to take over the family business, instead following her lifelong passion for astronomy. Aventurine

Aventurine takes a high-risk, high-reward attitude to life, and his gambles with fate have certainly paid off. As a senior manager in the IPC Strategic Investment Department and one of the Ten Stonehearts, Aventurine is used to using underhanded methods to get what he wants, and his disarming smile hides his true motivations.

Bailu

Path: Abundance

Bailu is the High Elder of the Vidyadhara and an expert in all things medicinal. Known to many as the 'healer lady', her unorthodox prescriptions can tackle the trickiest of ailments. She can't bear to see people in pain, and as she works, she closes her eyes tightly to avoid glancing at them. Black Swan

Black Swan is a Memokeeper of the Garden of Recollection, and as such she's able to enter memories and collect them as fragments to peruse at her leisure. While she can 'read' memories to acquire information, the driving motivation behind this enigmatic soothsayer's collection is largely unknown.

Blade

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Wind
Path: Destruction

Blade is affiliated with the Stellaron Hunters and prefers to work alone – in fact, he's so closed-off that nobody even knows his real name. Blade's body has suffered a great number of injuries after his many defeats, but his self-healing abilities have allowed him to exact revenge upon his foes. His sword is as cracked and broken as his body and mind.

Boothill

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Physical
Path: The Hunt

Boothill is a Galaxy Ranger seeking revenge on the Interastral Peace Corporation for some unknown reason. Like the Trailblazers themselves, this cyborg cowboy is an intergalactic drifter, though he prefers to uphold Justice with a positive attitude and his trusty six-shooter.

Bronya

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Wind
Path: Harmony

A young and capable commander of the Silvermane Guards, Bronya is the heir to the throne as Supreme Guardian of Belobog. However, while she did receive an education from an early age, nothing could prepare her for the abysmal conditions in the Underworld. As such, while she looks, dresses, and acts the part of an heir apparent, she is doubtful that she can lead the people effectively. Castorice

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Quantum
Path: Remembrance

Castorice is the daughter of the River of Souls and the Servant of Death. While this title might suggest she is Honkai Star Rail's equivalent to the Grim Reaper, she is a gentle soul who guards the lament and destiny of the dead. Castorice shares a close bond with a dragon spirit, Netherwing, who comes to her aid in battle. As a Chrysos Heir, she has embarked from her snow-laden home of Aidonia to claim the Death Coreflame.

Clara

Rarity: Five-star

Path: Destruction

Raised by her robot guardian, Clara is a young orphan girl who believed until recently that Svarog's logical calculations were infallible. However, her perceptiveness made her realize that these 'calculations' are inherently flawed, and with help from the Trailblazer, she seeks to change Svarog's mind and put him on the path to liberating the Underworld. Dan Heng

Acting as the Astral Express' guard, Dan Heng never talks about his past as he joined the crew to escape from it. Dr. Ratio

Dr. Ratio is a fiercely capable Intelligentsia Guild member who is dedicated to the cause of distributing knowledge throughout the universe. As a self-professed 'Mundanite', he views the proliferation of ignorance as a persistent disease that can be cured. While he is undeniably self-centered, he also stands firm in his belief that intellect and creativity aren't qualities confined to geniuses. He's also, in our humble opinion, a walking meme.

Feixiao

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Wind
Path: Hunt

Feixiao is an Arbiter-General of the the Xianzhou Alliance, and assumes control of the Yaoqing. She is otherwise known as the Merlin's Claw, though the Xianzhou people refer to her as The Great General due to her incredible martial arts skills.  However, she is also cursed by Moon Rage, which is exacerbated the more she fights.

Firefly

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Fire
Path: Destruction

Firefly is not as harmless as her gentle nature might have you believe. This powerful Stellaron Hunter is a living weapon genetically engineered to fight in her tactical heavy assault mech. Despite her superhuman perception, Firefly is afflicted with Entropy Loss Syndrome, which may be the reason behind her endless search to successfully defy Fate.

Fugue

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Fire
Path: Nihility

A foxian with a familiar face, Fugue was recovered from the the wreckage of a Whistling Flames ship by Ruan Mei. After her identity was stolen by Lord Ravager Phantylia during the assault on the Xianzhou Luofu, Fugue's sense of self has fractured, and she'll need the support of the Trailblazers to come to terms with what she's lost.

Fu Xuan

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Quantum
Path: Preservation

Fu Xuan is the Master Diviner aboard the Xianzhou Luofu. She uses her extraordinary gift of foresight to chart the course of the Luofu both physically and politically. However, this ability to navigate through difficult problems has made her somewhat arrogant, believing wholeheartedly that she has the best solution for everything. She has a close relationship with General Jing Yuan, though takes a dim view of his laidback disposition.

Gallagher

Rarity: Four-star
Element: Fire
Path: Abundance

Gallagher belongs to the Bloodhound Family at Penacony, though he's also a bit of a boozehound himself. When he's not safeguarding the Dreamscapes and keeping order in Penacony, this lackadaisical security officer moonlights as a mixologist. He believes that the perfect mixed drink can reflect the experiences of life, though he remains curiously tight-lipped about his complicated past.

Gepard

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Ice
Path: Preservation

Bearing the Landau family name, Gepard is the captain of the Silvermane Guards. He's an honorable presence, and it's thanks to the efforts of his guardsmen that, despite being in a frozen tundra, Belobog can largely continue its existence in relative peace.

Guinaifen

Rarity: Four-star
Element: Fire
Path: Nihility

Guinaifen ended up on the Xianzhou quite by accident, but the outworlder couldn't let that break her stride. She quickly made a name for herself as a street performer, performing acrobatic feats such as fire-breathing and sword-swallowing. It's implied that her real name is Guinevere, though she's embraced her new moniker aboard the Luofu, and considers Sushang her best friend.

Hanya

Rarity: Four-star
Element: Physical
Path: Harmony

Hanya is the Ten-Lords Commission judge who oversees the karmic sin of criminals who've violated the Ten Unpardonable Sins. She reads the memories of the mara-struck in her dreams, then uses her Oracle Brush to record their crimes and respective punishments. However, this power comes with a price: Hanya's own sense of self, which she only regains when interacting with her sister and fellow judge Xueyi.

Herta

Rarity: Four-star
Element: Ice
Path: Erudition

With the highest IQ in The Blue, Herta easily gets bored with projects, abandoning them when she loses interest. She is technically the true leader of the Herta Space Station, but she has no desire to run it, leaving it in capable hands. Himeko

After boarding the Astral Express when it became stranded in her home world, she spent years repairing the train before taking it to the stars. She's an adventurous scientist eager to meet many more companions on her journey through the cosmos. Hook

Rarity: Four-star
Element: Fire
Path: Destruction

The chaotic leader of a group in the Underworld known as The Moles, Hook calls herself 'Pitch-Dark Hook the Great'. She believes she can handle herself without adult help and hates being called a kid. However, the best Honkai Star Rail Hook build proves that size really doesn't matter, since this pint-sized pyro packs one hell of a punch.

Huohuo

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Wind
Path: Abundance

You wouldn't think it to look at her, but Huohuo is actually a Ten-Lords Commission Judge in training. Otherwise known as the 'cursed one', she has a heliobus sealed in her tail that draws the attention of spirits and demons, which she's forced to eradicate despite her fears. While it's still unknown why the judges of the Ten-Lords Commission have subjected her to such a fate, Huohuo's ability exceeds her own expectations, and glimmers of her potential ensure that she may one day become a powerful judge herself.

Hyacine

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Wind
Path: Remembrance

Hyacine, otherwise known as Hyacinthia, is a healer of the Twilight Courtyard prophesied to mend the torn fabric of dusk and dawn. As a Chrysos Heir, she guards the Sky Coreflame, which she inherits from her ancestor. Hyacine's adorable demeanor is only matched by Ika, the adorable pegasus that serves as her faithful companion.

Imbibitor Lunae

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Imaginary
Path: Destruction

Imbibitor Lunae is the High Elder of the Luofu and bearer of the Azure Dragon's legacy. He was entrusted with the duty of guarding the Ambrosial Arbor, the ancient artifact planted by the Aeon of Abundance to grant immortality to the Luofu's ancestors. Not much is known about his whereabouts, though given his resemblance to the strong but silent Dan Heng, we can hazard a wild guess or two.

Jade

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Quantum
Path: Erudition

As an IPC senior manager and one of the Ten Stonehearts, Jade is a shrewd moneylender who can squeeze value from even the most destitute clients. She might be cold and calculating, but there's no denying that Jade's methods get results – and anyone who tries to swindle her is destined to pay the price.

Jiaoqiu

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Fire
Path: Nihility

Jiaoqiu is a Foxian who hails from an Alchemy Commission family aboard the Xianzhou Yaoqing. Once a retired healer, he has returned to his medicinal practice to treat General Feixiao's ills. His calm demeanor and genial smile belie a cunning streak.

Jing Yuan

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Wind
Path: Erudition

The Cloud Knight general who commands the Xianzhou Luofu is a surprisingly meticulous individual, given his rather aloof nature. He doesn't consider solving the day's problems a show of wisdom. Instead, he plans ahead so that problems never arise in the first place, earning him the nickname 'The Dozing General'.

Jingliu

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Ice
Path: Destruction

Jingliu was once the sword master of the Xianzhou Luofu and Jing Yuan's mentor, though she suffered a dramatic fall from grace when she was unexpectedly struck with Mara. The disease drove her to insanity, warping her personality until she began to perceive herself as an unstoppable sword. Her incredible power is connected to the moon's phases, and not even the Cloud Knights are able to contain her during her fits – though at times, the Mara releases its grip, revealing her true placid nature.

Kafka

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Lightning
Path: Nihility

Kafka is an infamous Stellaron Hunter that has a close connection with the Trailblazer, and is responsible for placing the Stellaron inside them. While she answers to the elusive Elio, she has a close relationship with fellow Stellaron Hunters Silver Wolf and Blade, who regularly accompany her on missions. Kafka remains a fugitive on the Interastral Peace Corporation's wanted list, but she always manages to elude their forces.

Lingsha

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Fire
Path: Harmony

Lingsha is a Vidyadhara, though her draconic features are less prominent than Bailu or Imbibitor Lunae. Otherwise known as Dan Zhu, she once followed her master into banishment to escape the politics of the Xianzhou Alliance. As the Cauldron Master of the Alchemy Commission aboard the Xianzhou Luofu, Lingsha is a skilled healer that can diagnose patients via their scent alone. She displays impeccable bedside manner, though her return home has stirred up a complicated inner turmoil.

Luka

Rarity: Four-star
Element: Physical
Path: Nihility

Luka is a hot-headed brawler who made his name in the Boulder Town Fight Club. His reinforced metal arm can pummel his opponents into admitting a swift defeat. However, while Luka is quick to enter the ring with a flourish of showmanship and a wide grin, we imagine that time in the Underworld hasn't been easy for this bare-knuckle fighter.

Luocha

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Imaginary
Path: Abundance

Luocha is a member of the Intergalactic Merchant Guild who arrives on the Luofu in the midst of the Stellaron Crisis, inadvertently aiding Sushang and Dan Heng as they navigate the chaos. Luocha's own intentions on the commercial flagship are anyone's guess, but he's quick to lend aid to anyone who needs it with his exceptional healing abilities. He totes around an enormous coffin on his back – though whether or not anyone lies within is anyone's guess.

Lynx

Rarity: Four-star
Element: Quantum
Path: Abundance

Lynx is the youngest of the Landau siblings and has made a name for herself as one of Belobog's most renowned explorers by striking out into the extreme cold and harsh environment of the Eternal Freeze beyond Belobog's borders. Unlike Gepard and Serval, she prefers the solitude of the great outdoors and avoids unnecessary interactions with people by feigning a lack of motivation.

March 7th

Rarity: Four-star
Element: Ice / Imaginary
Path: Preservation / The Hunt

Constantly taking pictures, March 7th became known by the date she awoke from a drifting eternal ice flow with no knowledge of her past or who she was. She's now a spirited young girl who, in an effort to move on, decided to try and live her own life by naming herself after the date she woke up. Our best Honkai Star Rail March 7th build gives enemies a taste of her experiences, freezing them mid-battle.

Misha

Rarity: Four-star

Misha is a diligent employee of The Reverie Hotel in Penacony, though this plucky young bellboy has already got his sights set on the stars. His fond wish is to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and become an interstellar adventurer, and he spends his time trading the latest stories and rumors with the hotel's guests. He's also a talented engineer – a skill that's sure to come in handy when he finally sets out on his own trailblazing adventure.

Moze

Rarity: Four-star

Path: Hunt

A Shadow Guard of the Yaoqing, Moze is an expert of intelligence and discreet affairs. He is a loner, though his introversion and fastidious nature hides his capabilities as a skilled assassin. His silence is often unnerving but invaluable when striking from the shadows.

Mydei

Rarity: Five-star
Element: Imaginary
Path: Destruction

Mydeimos is the Crown Prince of Kremnos, though there's nothing prim and pampered about this royal. Following the corruption of the titan that presides over his fortress city, the prince has taken to the battlefield as "Mydei" to claim the glory of conquest for his own. Mydei is one of Kephale's Chrysos Heirs, prophesied to inherit the Titan's power through the Coreflame of Strife, though his destiny is far from bloodless.

Natasha

Rarity: Four-star

Path: Abundance

Natasha is a fastidious and ultimately reliable doctor that people of the Underworld can turn to, despite medical supplies being few and far between. Pela

Even with several years of experience, she remains at the lowest level of Diviners, seeking to increase her spare time. Rappa

Rappa is a Galaxy Ranger and a self-professed ninja, though her interpretation of "ninjutsu" extends to rap, graffiti, and comic books. Her pursuit of the so-called Evil Ninja Osaru takes her to Penacony, though her arrival is anything but discreet.
