How to farm Grow a Garden Honey
Learning how to farm Honey in Grow a Garden is the secret to scoring loads of free seeds, eggs, and pets during the Bizzy Bees update.
Given you only have a week in total to do so, it's important to build your garden around the idea of farming Honey as soon as possible.
Unlike the Bloodmoon event, which simply asked you to submit a set number of mutated crops to earn its freebies, the Grow a Garden Honey event requires a specific weight of mutated crops.
There's no minimum size requirement, but you need to submit crops that hit a total weight count to claim each reward.
Naturally, that means you'll progress through the Grow a Garden Honey rewards faster by delivering bigger and heavier crops. There are two ways to do this:
- Focus on planting crops that produce large fruits.
- Use Sprinklers and pets to increase the weight of fruits as they grow.
We'll go into more detail on both GoG Honey farming methods below.
What are the best crops for farming Grow a Garden Honey?
For the first point, it can make sense to remove the common fruits you planted at the start of your Grow a Garden playthrough.
These common fruits, like Blueberries, are typically very lightweight, making them ill-suited to converting into Honey when Pollinated.
Unless you have a legion of Grow a Garden bees personally pollinating your garden, having too many of these lightweight fruits can slow you down.
Why? Because bees from the Swarm event can only pollinate so much in the slim 10-minute window of the Swarm event. If you only plant large fruits in your garden, you have a much higher chance of pollinating crops that can more quickly hit the next Honey reward weight limit.
With that in mind, choosing a mixture of large, slow-growing fruits and medium fast-growing fruits can help you farm Honey.
Fruits like Apple, Watermelon, Mango, and Dragonfruit are worth keeping on your farm, while Strawberries, Blueberries, and Oranges might be worth removing for now.
How to use Sprinklers to farm Honey in Grow a Garden
The second point can help in either situation. Because Sprinklers speed up the growth of crops and can increase their average size, they can help small Pollinated fruits grow larger, or make already large fruits even bigger.
Like eggs and seeds, sprinklers are restocked in their corresponding shop from time to time. Set up a Grow a Garden stock tracker if you don't want to log in every time a restock occurs.
Is the Grow a Garden Honey Sprinkler worth it?
The Honey Sprinker, which can be exchanged for Honey at the Queen Bee while in stock, does not apply the Pollinated mutation.
Instead, it applies the Honey Glazed mutation. Honey Glazed mutated fruits cannot be exchanged for Honey, making the Grow a Garden Honey Sprinkler ill-suited to farming Honey.
If you're simply looking to farm Honey, the Honey Sprinkler in Grow a Garden is not worth it. Check out our Grow a Garden mutation guide to compare its effects to other mutations.
